STATEMENT

I see the world through heart-shaped lenses, where perception shifts depending on each subject I encounter. The heart is not a symbol added onto images, but a way of seeing through which objects and experiences are softened, distorted, and reformed.

Familiar subjects pass through this process of translation, becoming altered in tone and meaning. Finding hearts in the world becomes my way of introducing softness and lightness into the mundane, even within heavier realities. This practice serves as a personal challenge and reminder, one I extend to viewers as well.

I work with pastel, dreamlike palettes, using color intuitively through a playful process of layering acrylic. In clay and plaster, the same approach extends into form, where softness and fluidity emerge through touch, and edges are shaped by gesture rather than precision.

What emerges is not just a series of works, but a shifting field of translations. I refer to this ongoing body of work as the Heart Archive: a collection of moments, memories, and observations transformed through my particular way of seeing.
